Q: What makes Gargantua a sustainable design?
A:
Gargantua is designed with longevity in mind, both in materials and in concept. The combination of durable wood and steel ensures minimal waste in production and long-lasting use over time.
First designed in 1994, Gargantua is still highly relevant today and continues to be part of the collection. Its timeless, multifunctional design makes it a true classic that can be passed on from generation to generation.
Gargantua also marks the beginning of Extremis, forming the foundation for the brand’s multifunctional design philosophy.

Q: How does Gargantua adapt from 8 to 12 people?
A:
Gargantua is the only picnic table that easily adapts from 8 to 12 seats. By repositioning the benches, it can be configured in different height settings, including two intermediate positions for children. In the highest position, the benches become an extension of the tabletop, creating space for up to 12 people. This flexible design also allows children to sit at the same level as adults, enhancing togetherness.

Q: Is there a floor fastening option for the Gargantua?
A:
Yes, Gargantua offers an optional floor fastening set. It consists of four galvanized steel plates that can be securely fixed to the ground using bolts, providing extra stability and preventing movement.

Q: Do you need to oil the wood?
A: Just like other types of wood, wood will gradually become rougher and start to turn grey as a consequence of exposure to the sun and rain. Small cracks and crevices can also appear as part of this process. We strongly advise everyone to treat the furniture with our Wood Protector. This 100% natural oil controls the moisture level within the wood, which makes the planks stay stable for longer, and the layer of oil also helps to prevent spilled liquids from being absorbed, so that stains tend to stay superficial. It is best to repeat this treatment at regular intervals.

A timeless idea

Gargantua is the original ‘tool for togetherness’. Born from the notion that gathering around a table should be accessible for all, form certainly followed function in more ways than one. The adjustable benches ensure that small children sit at the same eye level as adults and the tabletop is accessible by wheelchair. Gargantua is the ultimate symbol of inclusivity.
